Mary Beth Storey Child Jensen

Our beloved matriarch, Mary Beth, passed away April 6, 2021, surrounded by her family, after her hard-fought battle with cancer.

Mary Beth, as she loved to be known by, was born in Ogden on March 21, 1943 to parents Ben and Myrle Storey. The second youngest of nine, she was raised in Eden, Utah and graduated from Weber High School in 1961.

In 1962 Mary married Bill Child and had three sons: Ricky, Chet and Justin.

On June 1, 1978 she married the love of her life, best friend, soulmate and protector, Rick Jensen. Together they had their only daughter, Amber.

Mary loved all things family, holidays and outdoors, especially with those she loved. She was always sure to find a way to include and entertain everyone at Christmas parties, easter egg hunts, family dinners, and the infamous Storey family reunions. She was always willing to play a card, board, or dice game (and do anything to win it).

She had SO many hobbies. You may have known her from card making, the Westerner's Riding Club, cheering on the Utahan's Riding Club, or 4-Wheeling in Moab. She enjoyed making
time-out dolls, flower arrangements, WAY over decorating for holidays - any holiday, camping and doing anything that made her family happy.

She was the yard sale QUEEN. All of her gifts were yard sale treasures... and they were treasures for sure.

While she had her favorite dishes to make, she sometimes chose to take the easy way out and buy cookies from the store - convincing everyone she had an extra plastic container laying around the house that she would bring them in. Cabbage, cabbage, cabbage Mary!

She had an infectious laugh, a witty sense of humor, and a fierce love for her family.

She is survived by her husband, Rick; children: Ricky, Chet, and Justin Child and Amber (Steve) Ulibarri; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; as well as her siblings, Karen Langley (John - deceased), Sue Ogden (Eddie), Judy Fuller (Lloyd - deceased), and Ella Hazelwood (Bill).

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Myrle Storey, siblings: Keith Storey (Shirley - deceased), Donna Forsgren (Wendell - deceased), Darrell Storey (Elaine), and Kay Storey.

Viewing and Funeral Services will be held at Leavitt's Mortuary 836 36th Street, Ogden Utah. A Viewing will be held Sunday, April 11 from 6:00 -8:00 p.m. and Funeral Services will be held on Monday, April 12, 2021, at 11:00 a.m., with a visitation one hour prior to services.

Interment at Leavitt’s Aultorest Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Encompass Care Foundation at the Ogden Branch office location. (5478 S Adams Ave Parkway Suite 1, Ogden UT 84405, as they were truly angels in Mary's toughest battle. Thank you can never be enough.

Mary was a wonderfully funny, caring, and friend to everyone she met. We always had so much fun at the Utah's riding club events. She loved to pull pranks, tell stories, and was a big support to all of us. She loved her family and friends. Mary was one in a million!! She will be missed by so many. I feel fortunate to have been a part of her life. RIP Mary. 💓💓💓
